RESTORATIVE PRACTICES

Restorative practices is an approach to establishing and cultivating positive relationships at Urban Collegiate Academy. Restorative practices encourage open communication, active listening, and empathy among students, faculty, and staff. When students engage in undesired and unexpected behavior for school, we use restorative practices to correct behavior, repair harm, and restore relationships rather than solely punishing wrongdoing. Urban Collegiate Academy will use restorative circles, conferences, and other techniques to resolve conflicts and address disciplinary issues that promote understanding and growth. Our investment in restorative practices fosters a sense of belonging, accountability, and responsibility within the school community. Restorative practices also contribute to a positive school climate, reducing bullying, violence, and exclusion incidents while empowering students and staff to develop a strong sense of community at Urban Collegiate Academy.
