Academic Intervention Supports

Urban Collegiate Academy will implement academic intervention supports based on a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS). This approach will involve providing different levels or tiers of support to scholars based on their individual needs. The MTSS framework will typically include three tiers:

Tier 1: Universal Instruction: At this tier, all scholars will receive high-quality, evidence-based instruction in their regular classroom. Teachers will use research-based instructional strategies and materials to meet the diverse needs of their scholars.

Tier 2: Targeted Intervention: Scholars who are not making adequate progress in the general education setting will be identified for additional support at this tier. They will receive targeted interventions that will be more intense and focused on specific areas of need. These interventions may be provided within the regular classroom or in a small group setting.

Tier 3: Intensive Intervention: Scholars who continue to struggle despite receiving Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions will be identified for more intensive support at this tier. They will receive highly individualized and intensive interventions that will target their specific areas of need. These interventions may be provided in a small group or one-on-one setting, and may involve specialized instructional strategies or materials.

Urban Collegiate Academy will use data to identify scholars who may benefit from additional support at each tier. This data may include standardized test scores, classroom assessments, and teacher observations. The goal will be to provide the necessary support to ensure that all scholars have the opportunity to succeed academically.
